Purpose Grown Project

The Purpose Grown Project (PGP), a farmer-led initiative, aims to enhance food access for low-income residents in Dane County, Wisconsin.

  • Neighborhood House partners with local farms, nonprofits, and affordable housing neighborhoods to help directly distribute food to families in need. We achieve this through various food services including our: indoor & outdoor food pantries, prepared meals, grocery handouts, and pop-ups.

  • PGP challenges the notion that local produce is only for high-income, non-minority groups, recognizing the barriers faced by low-income and minority communities. This collective effort ensures that people who wouldn’t otherwise afford it gain access to high-quality local food.

  • PGP farmers self-fund their produce-growing efforts and also collaborate with others for fundraising, marketing, and distribution. They work with community service organizations to ensure effective delivery to those in need. Food is grown and raised in Wisconsin, with distributors bringing it to local pantries and low-income neighborhoods.
