YOUTH PROGRAMS

Afterschool Enrichment, Summer Camps, Mentoring and More

Monday – Friday, dismissal to 5:45 pm.

Ages 7-12 (limited space for 6 year-olds).

Programming consists of snack and free time, academic homework time, outdoor and gym time, enrichment activities (art, cooking, yoga, etc) for youth in elementary school. Dedicated staff provide support, build relationships, and focus on social emotional growth.

Bussing is available for Franklin and Randall Elementary students.

Elementary Afterschool

Middle School Monday’s is an afterschool program that takes place on Monday’s from MMSD dismissal to 5pm.

Open to all students in 6th – 8th grade.

Middle School Programming at Neighborhood House offers a relaxed atmosphere for academics/homework help, enrichment activities, field trips, and gym/outside time.

**Any middle schooler signed up for M.S. Monday’s are welcome to come to Neighborhood House after school on Tuesdays – Fridays if it’s needed (no scheduled programming).

Middle School Monday's

Fun Friday is a free program that happens once a month for youth ages 6-13. Fun Fridays takes place on Friday from 6-8pm.

Each month is a different event or theme!

Please RSVP, but walk-ins are always welcome!

We offer a full day program (8am – 4pm) for youth ages 6 and up on select days that MMSD is not in seesion.


Summer Camp

  • Elementary School

    June 23 - August 15

    Monday-Friday

    8:30am-4:15pm

    Summer Youth Elementary Camp at Neighborhood House is an endless adventure for children entering 1st through 5th grade. Whether your child loves running around at the park, expressing themselves artistically, or exploring the city of Madison, they will feel at home at our summer camp.

    Youth Camp has reached capacity. 

    Sign up to be placed on the waitlist. 

    If you already applied you will receive an email with your child’s enrollment status in early April.

  • Middle School

    June 23 - August 15

    Monday-Friday

    8:30am-4:15pm

    Middle School Camp is for youth entering 6th through 8th grades.  MS Camp is free takes place Monday through Friday at Neighborhood House (29 S Mills St). Each week consists of activities, skill building, field trips and fun!

    Camp sign up and more information will be available March 4 at 12pm for past participants and March 18 for new families.

  • High School

    Week of June 30 - August 8

    The Madison Community Experience is a dynamic summer experience. Participants will spend most of their time on field trips in the community, participating in workshops, learning from guest speakers, and some time working on youth-led projects. This opportunity is available to students entering 9th – 12th grade.

    This a half day program in the afternoons

TRUE PLAY

Thursday 9:30 – 11:30 am
Ages 5 and under (with caregiver)

True Play helps learning, growth, & development flourish. Each week the environment is set up with materials & adults to facilitate True Play.

This is a free, drop-in program.

BUSY TOWN

Currently on Hiatus! Check Back later in 2025!

Ages 5 and under (with caregiver)

Busy Town includes art, music, nature, and science exploration activities, open-ended play materials, and a healthy snack.

This is a free, drop-in program.

Community Impact Internships

June-August

Community Impact Internships are open to youth in grades 9-12. Hours are between 2 and 6 hours per week. Starting wage is $14/hr.

They work directly with Neighborhood House staff in one of three focus areas –

Youth Development

Food Security

or

Center Support

Interns will spend time learning about Neighborhood House, supporting programs, and developing and implementing a project/program at the center!

Interested individuals must complete an application and interview process.

YouthRise is a newly created, free, youth focused program grounded in empowerment, growth, and healing. It was created with the purpose of preventing violence on all levels (individual, relationships, community, and societal factors) by establishing community and empowering youth ages 11-18 in and around the Madison area to learn, grow, heal, and advocate.

YouthRise provides an innovative approach to violence prevention by:

  • Bringing youth in the community together

  • Connecting youth with professionals

  • Empowering youth through leading discussions, workshops, and going on field trips

  • Providing resources for youth to take home and utilize (e.g. mental health resources, recreational activities, social media tips, suicide prevention strategies, etc.) 

Youth are able to attend all dates or drop in for specific topics. 

More information on specific topics will be posted soon.

Program Dates: 

  • March 20 – June 12 from 5:30pm-7:00pm (biweekly). 

    • No programming on 4/03 but will resume on 4/17

    1. July 15 – July 24 (Tuesday-Thursday) from 12:30pm-3:30pm – High School Madison Community Experience

    2. September 4 – December 11 from 5:30pm-7:00pm (biweekly)
